Book Blogger Hop: Question of the Week (Aug 17-Aug 23)

Book Blogger Hop

I just found this fun little meme/hop on the Crazy For Books blog.  I love answering questions (especially if they are about books) and love reading other people’s answers soooo I’m going to try and participate in this fun hop each week.  The hop goes up on Fridays but in true Jenifer fashion, I am late…

This week’s question:  What is the one genre you will NEVER read?

My answer:   I used to say that I would NEVER read romances, but I do now enjoy a well-written romance.  I also used to say that I would NEVER read sci-fi/fantasy, but I’ve read and enjoyed a few of those lately as well.  I used to say that I would never read erotica but I did read Fifty Shades of Grey (that is erotica, right?).

I could say that I will NEVER read a western, but I just might…my grandpa used to love Louis L’Amour novels and every now and then I think of reading one just to feel closer to him in spirit. I think right now if there is a genre that will NEVER read it would be the political genre.

How about you?  Is there a genre that you won’t read?

Sonia - I am not a huge fan of mysteries. That genre just doesnt interest me

Vickieann - Personally for me it is Poetry…I don’t like it and most of the time it just annoys me. And menage, I only need one other naked person in the room. http://tbr-io.blogspot.com/

Susan - I can’t think of a genre that I won’t read. My tastes are quite eclectic and I usually have several genres going at once – makes it easier to keep track of different books! Least favorite would probably be the self-help category. An article or two maybe; but I usually can’t tolerate a whole book. Or were you just talking fiction?

Amy - I’m pretty open to reading anything, and I hesitated to use the word “never”. But that being said, I tend to avoid the stereotypical romance paperbacks with the bare-chested Fabio wannabes on the covers. I just… *cringe*… can’t.

Tiffany - I really love this! I enjoyed the post and if I use this I will be sure to also link it back to you!

admin - Amy, that is totally me, too! I’ll read a romance but it can’t “look” like the typical Harlequin romance. I think the closest that I’ve come to these types of covers would be the Highlander series by Karen Marie Moning but those are only glimpses of the guy (i.e. bottom half of his face, chest, back, etc.).

admin - Nope, not just fiction…any genre. I’m like you in that if I am reading more than one book, they have to be different genres. Like right now, I’m slowly reading In the Shadow of the Banyon and have read a light paranormal romance and now am reading a middle-grade book. It helps balance out the seriousness and sadness of the Banyon book for me.

admin - Haha, I could not figure out what genre “menage” was and I finally figured it out! I guess, I’ll add that to my will-not-read genres. 🙂

Susan (Bloggin' 'bout Books) - Never say never, right? I’m not wild about westerns or romances, but the fact is, I’ve enjoyed a few of those myself! I won’t, however, read erotica. Ever. It’s just SOOO not my thing.

Glad to have found you via the Hop!

Oh, and I love the name of your blog. I grew up in Washington State—I adore me a nice, gray day. Unfortunately, we don’t get a lot of them here in the Phoenix area 🙁 I miss the NW every day!
